  • We do, however, it's suggested no more than 2-3 swimmers at the same ability level. Just because they are the same age, or close in age, does not mean they are the same level. Everyone advances differently when learning new life skills.

  • For our instructors, no, not really. But for your swimmer(s) it can be. Lessons are structured with lots of teaching. Teaching means talking and explaining things. They're not constantly moving and jumping around and playing to keep their heart rate up. Try to aim for hot hours during the day when the sun is on your pool.

  • Please give us 72-hours notice so you are not charged. Each client will sign off on our policies and procedures. Please read through it carefully.

  • All lessons are booked on a first come, first serve basis. You will complete booking on our scheduling software system by clicking on the “Book Here” Tab.

  • We are not ISR certified. However, we do teach along the lines of ISR with water survival skills and techniques from falling in, jumping in, back floating, kicking, learning where the nearest wall/exit is, yelling for help, as well as simply learning how to climb out of the pool.

  • Continue with lessons during the school year. Keep the structure. As kids grow, their bodies change along with their muscle memory. YMCAs, Goldfish Swim School, 5 Star Swim School, JCCs, KIDS FIRST Swim School, Aqua Tots, and British Swim Schools are all great places ton continue your swimmers summer progress.

  • In the event of bad weather, lessons will be called off within 60-90 minutes before the start of the lesson. The weather during the summer can play tricks on us, so we will not cancel ahead of time for weather predictions. Island Aquatics will call the lesson to provide either a rescheduled lesson or a refund for the day. If YOU cancel due to predicted weather, it will fall within the 72-hour notice cancellation policy and you will not receive a refund or opportunity to reschedule.

Weather such as thunder, lightning, or heavy rain when you cannot see the bottom of the pool, we will try our best to reschedule, however, please note that with full schedules, rescheduling may not be an option.

  • SHORT ANSWER: Learning to swim is like learning to walk—it doesn’t happen in a day. It takes time, practice, and lots of encouragement. Every splash, float, and kick brings your toddler closer to swimming on their own!

LONG ANSWER: First – we need to know what your goals as a parent for your swimmer?

Are you looking for your child to be exposed to lessons for the first time?

Or are you looking for your child to learn to survive in the event of an accident?

The number of lessons it takes to learn to swim varies depending on age, comfort in the water, & consistency. Most toddlers (ages 1–3) benefit from ongoing, weekly lessons over several months to build basic water survival skills & comfort.

Learning to swim is a lot like learning to walk.

Just like infants do not begin to walk after taking their first steps after one or two tries, they won’t become swimmers after just a few lessons.

They build comfort & confidence—first crawling, standing, balancing—just like in the pool, getting used to the water, learn to float, & swimming with support. With consistent practice, their skills grow stronger & more independent. Every child progresses at their own pace, & what matters most is regular exposure & positive experiences.

For true survival skills like independent floating, it can take many months or even years, depending on the child.
